OOMT is the development fund of the mobility sector, consisting of 80,000 employees and 12,000 employers. They support the industry with coaching, research, events, and career advice, with the aim of elevating the sector to a higher level.

The rise of electric vehicles will have a significant impact on automotive companies, requiring not only different maintenance work, but also new knowledge. Many automotive companies find it challenging to adapt to these changes. OOMT sought a compelling means to create awareness and provide support.

To combat this exciting challenge, we developed a highly realistic VR experience: an interactive, virtual environment of the garage of the future. VR, 3D animation, 2D animation, audio design, and storytelling are being brought together uniquely. It's THE tool to give garage owners insight into the future and initiate the first steps toward transformation.

The challenge

While automotive companies currently primarily focus on internal combustion engines, a significant change is on the horizon. Electric vehicles are the future of the industry, but automotive companies have not yet made the upcoming future a priority. OOMT aims to raise awareness among them about the changes to come and the impact it will have on their businesses.

"Our target audience sometimes finds it challenging to address serious topics. That's why we sought a tool that immediately captures interest and can be a catalyst for discussion," says Ellen Hiep, communication advisor for OOMT.

The collaboration between OOMT, Richtingmakers, and C4Real formed a powerful triangular relationship. OOMT provided the content, Richtingmakers directed the campaign, and C4Real developed the thoughtful concept of the VR experience. Ellen says, "It's a collaboration between different specialists, each of which excels in their area of expertise."

The solution

The VR experience takes you on a journey through four different stages of automotive companies, from traditional, non-electric ones to fully future-proof businesses. Making it feel as if you have actually entered this new reality. Thanks to the VR experience, garage owners and employees get a glimpse of the future of the industry and discover the steps they can undertake to get there. From safely working with electric cars, hiring an EV specialist, to utilizing tools, delivered by drones and 3D printers in the warehouse.

The end result

The advisors of OOMT are currently visiting automotive companies with VR headsets to demonstrate the impressive VR experience. Sometimes, this is done individually with only the employer, and in other cases, there are group sessions. The result? Concrete discussions about the possibilities for transformation.

With their 'OOMT on the road' initiative, they have already visited 1700 automotive companies to raise awareness about the VR experience. The automotive companies are very enthusiastic and are aware of the upcoming changes. Ellen says, 'By reaching the target audience at this level, we see the industry moving. Employers and employees are engaging in discussions about the upcoming changes, and that was exactly our goal.'
